How old do you have to be to rent a car in West Point?
West Point requires drivers to be 21 and above to rent a car. However, young drivers can expect an extra charge and some restrictions. Most companies impose a daily young renter fee in addition to the normal car rental rate. This covers the extra risk of damage or accident. While many car classes (like compact and economy) are available to young renters, restrictions usually apply to luxury cars.
What do you need to rent a car in West Point?
Before you can road trip around West Point, you'll need a valid driver's licence and a credit card that matches the name on your licence. If you decline to take out the company's insurance policy, you may also have to provide proof of your own coverage. Requirements can vary, so read the contract terms and conditions before you select a rental company.

These rates were available on Expedia, with a rental starting date within the next year. Prices and availability are subject to change and additional terms apply.
Can I rent a car for a month or longer in West Point?
Whether you're planning to stay in West Point or journey beyond, you can reserve a long-term rental with Expedia. Enter your trip information and pick-up/drop-off locations and we'll help you find incredible long-term car rental deals.
Where can I find a West Point car rental if I am younger than 25?
This depends on the rental companies that are found in West Point. They often have different age policies. If you've found a place that does cater to drivers under 25 years of age, be aware that extra fees may apply. Conduct some research into any extra charges before you collect the car.
Can I drive in West Point with my current driver's license?
If you don't have a driver's license issued in the United States, you may be required to organise an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country before starting the home process. If you find that an IDP is required for you to drive in the U.S, be aware that you'll also have to show your current valid driver's license and your passport or other form of ID. Lastly, the credit card that was used to rent the car must also match the name on your driver's license and passport in order to finalize your car rental. Some additional requirements for renting a car in the U.S. Are:

  • Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or older in many states in order to rent a car, although in some places the minimum age is 21. We recommend checking local regulations, as well as with the company you're renting from before you travel to understand additional terms and conditions.
  • Driving limitations: Don't forget to read the fine print before you get behind the wheel so you can avoid unnecessary fees. When renting a car in the U.S, it's usually prohibited to cross country borders into Mexico or Canada, drive on ferries or traverse certain types of rugged terrain with your home. Please read all the rules and regulations before booking!
